Painting for fun

Finger Paints

I love Internet! I came across this wonderful sight The Idea Room

Finger Paints
Ingredients:
1/2 c cornstarch
3 Tbsp Sugar
1/2 tsp Salt
2 c cold water
food coloring

must have:
storage containers
How To Make:
In medium pan, mix all ingredients together to make the finger paint. Cook over low heat for 10-15 minutes. (Tip: I would cook it about 5 minutes less). Keep stirring the finger paint mixture until it is smooth and thick. After the finger paint has thickened take the pan off the stove and let the mixture cool. After cooling, divide into storage containers depending on how many colors you would like. Add a few drops of food coloring to the containers. Stir the coloring into the paint top determine the shade of color. You're ready to paint! Cover tightly when storing.

What to do when boys can't be outside

Get out your constructions trucks and vehicles for fun!
I came up with this idea when my boys where little and they couldn't go outside and play in the dirt because of the rain.

They LOVED playing construction.It's cornmeal!

It's not as messy as flour and not as sticky as sugar but oh so much fun!
The boys also used there monster trucks too.

Rainy Day Activities for Kids

Rainy days are more often this year so I thought I'd share some of my ideas and things we do in my home.

Indoor Picnic and a Movie - the kids love to have a blanket set out in the family room with snacks, fun afternoon, plus quiet time for mom....yeah!

Tent in the House - We have a little pup tent we open up for the kids to have an adventure or sometimes we use blankets and hang them over the furniture. They love! I think most of the time they end up with every toy in the house in the tent and oh yes there in there too!

Find that hidden toy - I have each child pick a toy then they go hide while I hide that toy. They think it's so fun, especially when we have to play Hot and Cold to help them.
